Rainforest World Music Festival 2019 -Day 1
It's that time of the year for Rainforest World Music Festival 2019! I was really excited to join in the fun this year on the 22nd year of RWMF. Ida and I depart from Kuching super early at 9.15am just to reach the media centre at 10am.
After getting our passes, we rush to one of the first session of the day, Yoga (Emotional Freedom Technique) taught by Alice Chieng (Padma Yoga Studio)We were taught to press on certain points on our faces mostly and to release whatever emotions that we felt during the class.
The session unfortunately lasted only 45minutes, I want more! >_< RWMF introduced lifestyle & wellness sessions since last year and I really enjoyed them!
One thing I noticed this year, more food stalls in different area/section of the Sarawak Cultural Village. More food and options!
This is Liza and she was donning the Gajah Olen which is a Malay wedding tradition in Sarawak. This was my first time to learn that we have such culture in Sarawak. I hope more of my Malay friends from Sarawak would wear this for their wedding and keep the tradition alive.
Gajah Olen is a traditional wear from the Sarawak Malay community, used during wedding ceremony when bride and groom are presented on bridal dais or during 'berlutut'. This special bridal wear was widely used especially in Kuching, Samarahan, Sri Aman and other parts of Sarawak in the past.
From this picture, we can see that other countries has their own version of head jewellery
My partner in crime (Ida) this year for RWMF 2019!
LitSara booth this year we have a special sauna room made with mats surrounding us keeping the heat in. We sweat a lot but felt refresh after that.
#UrBins project that made many Bins pretty and urban to raise awareness for recycling and to segregate rubbish before we throw it at RWMF 2019.
Sape workshop! Finally I am here to learn a thing or two about this traditional musical instrument made as a healing tool by the Orang Ulu.
There's so many different shapes and designs for the Sape (pronounce as sapek)
I strum too hard and my thumb got blister.
New friends and meeting old friends again.
When the night falls, the jungle stage and tree stage come alive with many exciting performances from overseas and local artists. I think I arrive around 8pm or so after dinner. XD

This is my second year attending Rainforest World Music Festival, and I'm glad I can enjoy all kinds of world class music in my own hometown together with people from around the world coming by to visit Sarawak. =D
Thanks to STB and Sarawak Bloggers for the opportunity to cover and enjoy the event.
Enjoy the videos. I took a mini tripod along with me to record them while enjoying the performances.
