The Flipflops Beach Carnival Kuching 2011

The Flipflops Beach Carnival Kuching 2011 (My lomography article)

Last month, there was a 3-day, 2-night event called Flipflops Beach Carnival Kuching 2011 at Damai Puri and Spa at Santubong, Sarawak, Malaysia. I attended this carnival with my friends because I won passes to go. The events there included a concert, rave party, water sports, and on-the-beach activities.

Last month, my friends and I attended the Flipflops Beach Carnival Kuching 2011 at Damai Puri and Spa Santubong. There were a lot of activities lined up including a Della concert on the Friday night, a rave party on Saturday night and daily activities including water sports, hot air balloon, volleyball, kite flying and many other fun-filled activities. I spent 2 days and 1 night at the Damai Puri and Spa.

Damai Puri and Spa is a resort located at Santubong, which is 30 minutes away from Kuching City. You can use a taxi, bus or van to get there. You get the best of both worlds with mountains behind you and the beach in front of you at Santubong. There are many activities that you can do, including kayaking, exploring the jungle, cycling, and snookering at a nearby island and many other activities.
We are having so much fun swimming in the sea and going against the tide.
We even had a water balloon fight on the beach! I was too busy throwing balloons at others that I only took a photo of the balloons.

There were people flying a giant rainbow kite and I did a few poses with it! It looks like a giant contact lens!
This is the first time Kuching has had any big event on the beach!
This is the most thrilling ride ever – the storm rider! My friends and I screamed and clung onto the handles for our dear lives, afraid of falling into the sea. We were brought around the coast to see the sea view with our legs high up in the air and our heads very near the sea water. The ride lasted 15 minutes but it seemed like a very long time to me.
The day before, they even had a graffiti demonstration and I snapped a picture of the end result!

Overall, the trip was an enjoyable one and I had a lot of fun riding on the hot air balloon, the Storm Rider, taking part in the water balloon fights and eating seafood too!
