Pedal for Peace

This morning marks the start of Pedal for Peace and I got a chance to see them flag off from Sutera Harbour Indoor Tennis Court!
Pedal for Peace is a 200km cycling event from 18 – 19 May 2013 comprising of 150 cyclists from

Kota Kinabalu and Labuan.

The expedition will start in Kota Kinabalu where 100 cyclists will journey

down the west coast to Menumbok and board a ferry to Labuan to meet up with their 50 cycling

counterparts.

The entire group of 150 cyclists will then cycle around Labuan Island the following day.

The core element of this event is the preservation of peace which will be demonstrated through a token

wreath laying ceremony at the Petagas War Memorial (Kota Kinabalu), Starcevich Memorial (Beaufort)

and World War II Memorial (F.T. Labuan) respectively.

Pedal for Peace will end at the significant location that was built to honour peace and harmony for the

future – Peace Park, Labuan.

This scenic expedition will start in Kota Kinabalu where all of us will journey down the west coast to Menumbok and board a ferry to Labuan to meet up with their 50 cycling counterparts. The entire group will then cycle around Labuan Island the following day.

The core element of this event is as a reminder to us of the importance of peace and the sacrifices made by thousands of people to preserve it here. To honour them, a token wreath laying ceremony will be held at the Petagas War Memorial (Kota Kinabalu), Starcevich Memorial (Beaufort) and World War II Memorial (F.T. Labuan) respectively.

The cyclist consist of young and old, female and male! So they are all cycling for a good cause!

I can't wait to see their journey up to Labuan!
